When it comes to corporate identity and logo design, every single project is custom crafted and never stamped out factory style.

The linchpin is an individual who can walk into chaos and create order, someone who can invent, connect, create, and make things happen. Every worthwhile institution has indispensable people who make differences like these.

Convenience Store Cold Drink-Logo Design Town and Country Convenience Stores

Town & Country Food Stores was an employee-owned chain of convenience stores based in San Angelo, Texas. At the time I was working on that account, it had over 168 locations spread throughout Texas and New Mexico. TC was an $850 million dollar firm with multitudes of projects for an ad agency. Unfortunately for us, it was purchased by Susser Holdings Corporation in 2007 and the stores transitioned to Stripes Convenience Stores.

One of the new product offerings that required branding was an “ICEE” style ice drink called the Avalanche. When I designed the logo, I knew that the name called for a type style that was cold, fluid-like and appeared to tumble down-hill.  Designing logos and marks with names like these are the fun stuff of advertising.

Guts and truth. That’s how you build a world-class brand. Lamb Creek is a new day, digital ad agency and creative idea factory based in Kerrville, Texas just north of San Antonio, due west of Austin.

Food Ministry Logo Design Daily Bread Ministries

Daily Bread Ministries is Christian based food bank in San Antonio, Texas. Every year, over 200 churches and non-profit organizations receive more than 4 million pounds of food and products.  All of it is given away free of charge. The intent of the design was to have a logo that was reminiscent of a familiar bread company. Hence the retro style font I used.

Development Logo Design River Guide Village

In these days of quick-fix, stock rip offs, one wonders if any designers actually do their own illustrations anymore. This logo is proof some do. River Guide Village, a multi-office development, was built above the beautiful banks of the Guadalupe River here in Kerrville. The developer had seen an osprey grab breakfast out of the rapids below and asked that I incorporate it into the logo. I made a conscious attempt to emulate a style reminiscent of old serigraph tourist posters.

Home Builders Association Kerrville, Texas-Logo Design Hill Country Home Builders Association

Home building is a major economic player around these parts. At the time, the Hill Country Home Builders Association was blowin’ and goin’. Membership was up and confidence was high. The group was looking for ways to increase awareness. I was involved in a new branding effort that included television, internet, outdoor and corporate ID.

When you live in the Hill Country of Texas you see tons of logos with hills. While I was not bound to use symbolic “hills”, I found a way to do so that was uniquely HCHB. I drew a wooden carpenter’s fold-out ruler, bent into the shape of hills. For those who have eyes to see, they also represent roof tops.

Fredericksburg TX Retail Store Logo Design Phil Jackson's Granite & Iron Store

Phil Jackson’s Granite & Iron Store in Fredericksburg, TX is truly an amazing 10,000 square foot retail world. I designed his logo, store signage, original website and tons of Texas Monthly ads some years back.
